STATUS UPDATES is here!

As you have probably heard me talking about over the past, I don’t know, couple YEARS… I wrote and directed a transmedia series for MTV. I also acted in it, along with a crazy talented/hilarious cast including Taryn Southern, Luke Barats, Vivian Bang, David Barton Harris, Rawn Erickson, and others…

I am so so happy to finally share it with you! It was such an amazingly positive experience for me, directing something larger scale and writing something longer form… and acting of course. I learned so much during the process from the other people on set and from my own mistakes. : )

Here’s the official trailer, and here’s a link to check it out on Hulu! Please rate it 5 stars on Hulu if you like it. That’ll help us out.

I’m married!

Despite being a video blogger for years, I’ve always been pretty private in my online life… talking very little about my family or current relationships, only mentioning my romantic life in stories from relationships or bad dates that happened long in the past. This was intentional; it was a way of keeping the people most important to me safe and separate. Also, I’m sure there was some element of me being afraid of public failure and embarrassment ; )

I knew there would eventually come a time when my life changed in a way that would make me want to share more. And I have something big to share with you now:

This September, my boyfriend Cort Cass and I were married in a private ceremony in Big Sur, CA. We got married in a grove of ancient redwood trees. Neither of us had been to Big Sur before, and it turned out to be just as breathtaking and enchanted-feeling as everyone makes it out to be.

It’s wonderful to be sharing this with you now and I’m excited to be entering this new season.  I am so incredibly happy.

Thanks so much to everyone who has and continues to support my various projects. I’m so grateful for all of it. And I’m very aware that without you I would not be here at all; not here in California, and not here professionally or personally. Thank you so much.

2 Weeks in Europe, One Carry-on Bag

This is part one of a blog I’ll be working on the next couple weeks. Sad but true, until this month, I’ve never been outside North America before. The only reason I have a valid passport is because I went to Mexico with friends several years ago. But I just spent an amazing 2 weeks in Europe, and wanted to share my (limited) experience and (biased) recommendations with you.

I didn’t check a bag. Travelled with only a carry-on and a small backpack. This was partially because I’ve heard one too many stories of carelfully packed suitcases going missing mid-atlantic and women being forced to wear ill-fitting underwear cut for European people’s bottoms. And partially because I knew we’d be doing a lot of short travel between destinations by train and subway and I didn’t want to lug two big suitcases with me everywhere.  I read that there was something called the “roll method” that allowed you to fit an obscene amount of stuff into a carry-on sized suitcase. You can find out more about that here. I got 17 outfits and 5 pairs of shoes in there! And the clothes are less wrinkled when they come out of the bag than if you had individually folded them.

Another cool thing I found out about was these travel wash kits from Woolite.

Basically it’s packets of detergent (they’re small enough to easily slip a few in your carry-on’s liquid Ziploc baggie)  and a sink stopper. You can do laundry in the sink at your hotel and hang it to dry overnight in the shower. Since I have a tendency to spill food on myself and wanted to wear a couple of shirts/dresses twice on the trip, these were a lifesaver for me.
