Hey! Seems like I’ve had a lot of news lately – I have something else big to share with you!

I’m writing and directing AND starring in a project for MTVx!!! I’ve got say to I’m pretty proud of this thing and the way it tells a story : ) I can’t say details yet but I’m so excited to show you soon. The name of the series is going to be “Status Updates.”

Anyway, now that I can share this news, I’m excited to also be able to tell you a bit about the process of making the show with MTV along the way. We’re prepping to shoot right now, so at the moment my life consists of going on location scouts, overseeing casting calls, addressing script notes and getting eyelash extensions. It’s a very weird and mostly wonderful mix of activities, ha.

I’m loving it, and I feel very fancy as the director of a full professional cast and crew on the project.

This is going to be something different than most of what you’ve seen from me online-
I will always love video blogging but haven’t gotten to show you a lot of this other thing I love – writing longer form stories, writing for characters, and directing.

(And this is not the same project as the Sundance film and social media story event – that one is called Follow Back and is in the works as well.)

Let me know if there’s anything in particular I can share with you along the way that would be interesting. And thanks so much for always being so supportive even when I seem to disappear for a while because I’m working on something big!

That’s such great news! I used to give you a hard time online when you were thinking of leaving Nebraska for L.A. but, obviously, I was wrong (and not ashamed to admit it). You SO deserve all of this and I can’t wait to see all of it!

Now you’re making me miss leaving L.A. and the crazy world of production!

    Take good care – JK

Congrats!!!! That is awesome. I now have a reason to watch Mtv again. Do you got your own director chair with your name on it?

  3. Eric Jaffa says:

Will it be shown for 30 minutes once-a-week?

Thank you guys!!! @ John Keel – I still miss Nebraska especially this time of year! @osumarko I sure hope I get a director’s chair. I’ll post a pic if I do, ha. @ Eric Jaffa – MTVx is MTV’s cross media division so the plan is that this will be a digital series for the time being @ Annie Oh I remember that too! Aw Miss you!!

YEAH!!! AWESOME NEWS! CONGRATS! I’m really happy for you and it sounds like quite a big deal! I have always loved your writing style and can’t wait to see it played out.
From the PopCrunch Show in your bedroom, to TVSquad Daily, an Odd Little Side Project, Good Mood Blogging and now Sundance and MTV. You’ve really come a long way, and I’m not only saying from Lincoln to LA. 🙂 It’s really cool and I’m glade you shared so much with us.
There is only one thing about the MTV project that I’m a little concerned about. Is it going to be a TV thing, or a an online thing? And will I be able to watch it from outside the US?

Good luck with your locations and castings and the fake eyelashes. All the best!

That is super exciting! Congrats to you and your persistence and hard work! I’ve been following you since you were on TV Squad and it’s been great to see your progress and growth. Keep it up and break a leg!

Good for you, getting a foot in the door with old media. I hope you can work real music into your project,as MTV has gone so far afield from its origins. A picture of a director’s chair would be cute, Elenor in her own chair would rule..

  10. Happy for you and glad to see your hard work rewarded. You’ll be great!

certainly pleased and elated by the wonderful course of events ~ brava – here here – budmo – the toughest part may be who to delegate trust with your visions integrity – remember ~ skill and ingenuity is what defines talent – ethics over loyalty is a heartwrencher – be very carefull – duty is not an obligation – motivation not intention is key – be aware of sycophants and nay sayers – also at the very least when casting i present baked goods as a measurable incentive for character – enjoy your success ~ Madame la directrice has a nice ring to it

Woohooo ! I’m so glad for you ! (and us because we love everything you do).
I can’t wait to see what comes out of this. I’m sure your natural joyfulness will show all over and more people will get to know and appreciate that !
I’m confident in your talent and energy, I just hope this won’t be limited to United States (please make sure your preview and onset videos will be available to all, pleaaaaase ^^).
As for what I’d like to see, I’d love to get a feel of how you handle your everyday crew (will there be an unlimited supply of cupcakes ?) and how you deal with the dailies and get/direct the actors into their characters.
Anyway, CONGRATS, and a big “merde” to you on this !! Can’t wait !!
(for the little story, “merde” means “shit” in french, but it’s supposed to bring good luck here in France, especially if you walk on it with your left foot. So there you go ! :D)

  13. Congrats Brigitte! I can’t wait to check out this new show you’re making 🙂
