Unique Gifts for a 5 Year Old Girl That has Everything

Five year olds are a notoriously tough age to shop for. They’re too old for baby toys, yet still too young to do many activities on their own. Here’s a list of unique gift ideas for the 4 or 5 year old girl that has everything. And if you’re shopping for a 4 or 5-year-old boy, most of these gifts ideas work for either boys or girls!

A terrarium is like a miniature secret garden. These kits are a fun project that young kids can do by themselves and include everything you need to get started, from the jar to seeds to accessories. And it’s not just fun for kids – I’d actually like one of these for my own desk!

2. Colour Code Game

Colour Code is a game I’d never heard of before until a friend of mine received one as a gift for her five year old daughter. When she told me how much fun her daughter was having with the game, I knew I had to keep it in mind for future gifts for kids around that age.
3. A Magazine Subscription

Kids love getting mail of their own, and a subscription to a magazine like National Geographic Little Kids will be something they look forward to each month. This magazine even includes collectible animal cards in every issue.

4. Quick Knit Loom

There aren’t many craft projects that 5 year olds are ready to take on, but this Quick Knit Loom  is a great starting place for 5 year olds who are ready. The box says it’s for ages seven and up, but a five year old who enjoys arts and crafts and has decent dexterity should have a fine time with this kit.

5. Marvelous Mermaids Book

I’m told that this Marvelous Mermaids Book  keeps little girls occupied for hours dressing up and re-dressing up colorful mermaids in a variety of fins and fashions.

6. Sticker Mosaic Jewelry Box

Here’s another craft project that 5-year-olds may enjoy doing on their own with minimal assistance from a parent: the Sticker Mosaic Jewelry Box . Basically kids get to paste colorful jewel stickers (what’s not to love) in a pattern onto a jewelry box to create their own little chest for holding jewelry or other little treasures.

7. Crazy Forts

Crazy Forts  are a kit that allows kids to build the framework for their own forts, making them any size and shape they want. Simply drape an old bed sheet or light blanket over the top and poof! You’ve got a fort! The pieces can be used again and again to create different designs.

8. FinFun Mermaid Tails

FinFun Mermaid Tails are mermaid tails that are safe and fun to swim in. They’re a bit pricey (approximately $120) but fans of this brand can’t seem to stop raving about how fun and easy they are. If you know a little girl or boy who loves to swim, this would truly be a gift they’d never forget.

9. Make Your Own Kaleidoscope Kit

The idea of building your own kaleidoscope is fun for any kid, but this inexpensive kit makes the project even more thought-provoking by including pieces of nature to include in the mix, and kids can even add things they find in their backyard to make a truly one-of-a-kind kaleidoscope.

There are some fantastic ideas here Brigitte. 5 year olds are a tough crowd. My 5 year old daughter has the knitting loom and she loves to make scarves for people.
